I am so so blessed and proud and fired up about contributing to this issue in such great company!!! Here's to doing this piece/part of the nitty gritty revolution together🔥

while I really respect what the Rebis stands for, I have to admit it's jarring that out of 38 contributors, an overwhelming majority are white.

Especially with how the photos are spaced out, I kept scrolling looking for the black writers & creatives. And just none each time. It's a sinking feeling. I'm so disappointed.

honestly: I am very sad about this too. We deeply care about diversity. Our Creative Director is Latina (from Chile). The guest editor for our Chariot issue was a Black woman. I have tried to balance the voices to represent work from indigenous, Black, and other people of color. I have tried to share in creative communities where I know those folks work to encourage people to contribute. We pay our contributors fairly and redistribute profits to social justice orgs. I try to make this a safe space for people of all kinds. Unfortunately the contributor pool this year to select from was less diverse than I expected and less diverse than in previous years. I am super open to this dialogue and open to feedback for how to get the submission announcement in front of more folks. I am very proud of how much representation we have from the LGBTQIA community. There are a number of queer and trans contributors telling their stories, which I find inspiring. But yes, I agree, intersectionality and diversity are both important. It's a big goal for this project.
